Conrad's visit with his dad

Dustin came over and he took Conrad for his haircut for back to school. We dropped Dustin back off in Bremerton and grabbed an ice cream. The ferry ride was relaxing and also cool.

We saw quite a few things. Seals, black ducks, which I can not find the name of, seagulls and a nice view of Seattle retreating behind us.

The Suquamish Pow Wow (aka Chief Seattle Days), was vastly different than what I remember as a kid.

We would sneak away and walk down the hill from Grandma's. You would walk briskly glancing over your back because you pass the cemetary on the way. Just before you reach the bottom of the hill, on your right would be the large totem pole overlooking the bay. There was a large open area for the salmon cooking. My uncle Gene did it when I was a kid. And the smell was awesome on cedar planks. A large area of cement covered the ground called "the slab."

There was a large white building that was our summer school with Jimmy Forsman. He is a great guy. No longer a open fire pit, the meal is served cafeteria style. No longer a large white building, but a long house on the other side of the grass.
No more "slab."

No longer a totem pole. And the arched canoes that crossed over the Chief Seattle gravesite are gone as well.

On this day, however, the skies were open and blue, cloudless. The dancers were magnificent. And I sat with family and friends to see the Aztec dancers capivate all who watched. Like being hypnotized you could not look away.

And it was nice to have my mom sit and be there.

Denny Park - Kirkland, WA

Tonight we snuck away for about an hour of fun!

Not only did Conrad love his run along the shore, he had an absolute blast as he tossed a ball into the water with a friendly spaniel.

Waterwienie Fight!

We are lucky that our neighborhood is cool.

The Ice Cream man comes by in weather like this. Can you imagine sitting in the sweltering heat and the chiming music drifts up from the street. Hey, you think, is that on our street? Could it really be?.... Hey, YESss!!! I think it is..

It is THE ICE CREAM MAN!!!

Today, we heard that music..And I am not kidding you --- all three of us literally shot up out of our chairs, flew down the stairs and bolted to the street!

I had a cotton candy popsicle, Scott a Missippipi Mud Ice Cream Sandwich, and Conrad had a crazy popsicle that was green and had yellow and red swirls circling up and around it.

We are pretty lucky to have cool neighbors too.

The neighbors across the street have a pool in their backyard, and a cool dog and 2 boys. They are really nice. Conrad just loves going over there. As we grabbed our treats, their oldest boy all of 5 said that they were having a water balloon fight at his house. Conrad and I wandered over and it was true, Rob, his dad announced that later on at about 3:30 they were having an all out neighborhood kids water balloon fight.

Conrad could not believe this. I could not believe this.
Cool.

Yes, Conrad could go over. A few hours later, I did get distracted and sent Conrad over a little later. I guess he missed the big balloon fight, but they still were having water wienie wars, as you can see--- he was so crazed happy.

I took some pics and really thought that he is having a great summer!

Another page by Conrad

Conrad wanted to do a craft. I let him choose a photo and he picked one of Scott when we went to Kauai to the Allerton Gardens where the "Jurassic Park" trees are. He is very proud of this page and how nice his rubber stamping came out.

My sister's

My sister has a true green thumb. Growing from seeds she tilled her whole front yard into a jack and the beanstalk land. Farming is in her blood on both sides. Her visits always include arm loads of fresh zuccini, pumpkins, squash, and plants of all kinds. I came away with a raspberry plant, a rose start, too many to list and a respect for her beautiful crewel embroidery work.

And I drove away with a feeling that we should do this again soon.

Scott Company Picnic - all 20 minutes of it...

We arrived at Fox Hollow Farms in Issaquah with visions of barnyard animals galore with fences adorned with peacocks, a field of miniature horses, rabbits frolicking, baby kittens in the loft and a lawn with a brightly colored jumping castle.

After about 10 minutes Conrad said he was not feeling well. We could tell he did look a little white. Moments later he covered his mouth and 3 fountainlike streams of water gushed out. It took a second to realize he did not have a hose to his mouth..... Ughhhhhhhh Poor sweetie.

Home again home again jiggety jig.

A is for Aleah

I have some amazing photos of my nieces and nephew that I must make pages with!!

On this I had to sample my new deco tape. Deco tape or Washi tape is Japanese or Korean tape that is decorated with characters or other things.

Memories of Ruby Beach

In the summer it is too rough to try to get up north to Ruby Beach. So we did not get a chance this summer.. Maybe next summer.

Everyone is trying to go to the ocean for their little piece of heaven that is the break away from the forlorn and rainy Seattle. Work crews cause delays and distracts from the enjoyment if you let it. The long drive past Crescent Lake alone makes this trek very much worth it.

If you have never been to Ruby Beach it is amazing. When you step foot on the sands and walk the ocean tossed rocks, you feel like you came upon this wondrous discovery yourself. You are the explorer of the Pacific Northwest. Then you look around and realize that there are other beachcombers. You carefully tread towards the expansive shore and never ending waves to see the large rocks jutting from the ocean.

I can't wait to go back. Here is what I saw last time I was there.

My Scott, ahead of me, looking back at me with a wide smile.

Bark

Wow. A free truck load of bark is about 2 tons. We almost finished this in one day. The back yard looks so much better.

1.99 Shelves

I picked up these shelves for 1.99ea. I can't put up anything straight, so I already know they are a little crooked. But hey, that is the charm of doing it myself.
